Notes:

Wrote "The Days of My Pilgrimage" which is on website wsb.datapro.net Notes for Anna Frances Boulton: From Tales of a Granddada p.7 Dorothy a nd Christopher's mother's name was "Anna Frances", ("Frances" after her Grandmother of whom I have just been telling you), and she was "Aunt Fanny" to a good many people. From "The Days of My Pilgrimage p. 438": Towards the end of June, 1929, Mother took ill with a high fever and we did not know what was the matter. The American missionary doctor had go ne, so there was no one to call in. We thought it was dengue fever, but on hunting through the book of tropical medicine, we found that the sympto ms corresponded exactly to those of sunstroke. Nothing we could do helped. She became unconscious and I think did not suffer. She passed away with a gentle sigh at five o'clock on July 1. My father had a metal inner coff in prepared so that the body could wait for burial or be sent to Canada if her children wished it. But we all agreed that a good soldier is buried o n the battlefield where he falls. With Harold's help Father had a tomb bu ilt of blocks of stone, with a slab of slate in front bearing in Chinese th e inscription and the verses: "Her children arise up, and call her blesse d; her husband also, and he praiseth her. "Many daughters have done virtuously, but thou excellest them all. (Proverbs 31:28 & 29) "And I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, write, Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth: Yea, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labours; and their works do follow them." (Revelati on 14:13) The funeral was in September when Dorothy and Somerville arrived from Canada. Harold Collier had gone up to Shanghai to manage the Book Room while Christopher came down to Yeung Kong. AILSA CRAIG The founding of this community coincided with the construct ion of the section of the Grand Trunk Railway line from St. Mary's to Point Edwards, begun in 1858 and completed a year later. In 1861 David Craig a nd W.G. Shipley registered subdivisions and a post office was opened. Adopting the name of a small Scottish island, Ailsa Craig, the settleme nt flourished as the centre for the fertile surrounding region. In 1870 it had a population of 500 and contained hotels, stores, mills and several other small industries. By this time Ailsa Craig had become the site of the largest cattle market west of London. By a Provincial Act of Decemb er 21, 1874, the community became an incorporated Village, and the first council met on January 19, 1875.

Notes:

Notes for Frances Dorothea Willis: The Days of My Pilgrimage p.234 December 16th, 1886, is a day much to be remembered in our family, for o n that day came to us our little daughter, rightly named Dorothea, the gi ft of God. Our joy in her was very great especially mine; I have always fe lt and said that December 17th was the happiest day of my life. She was ve ry tiny, only 5 1/2 lbs, her head was covered with thick black hair and sh e had a wonderfully wise way of opening her eyes and gazing at you, as if she were taking your measure. From Tales of a Granddada p.6 Dorothy's name "Frances" was after her Mother and her Great grandmamma, (Frances Carew Boulton, and "Dorothea" was after her great Aunt Dorothe a Carew (Frances Carew's youngest sister). "Cousin Jonas Howe courted Dorothy." from a letter written by Great Uncle David (Dorothy's brother ) to Uncle John. died Aug. 2, 1965 (gravestone). From a letter written by Harold Collier (Dorothy's husband) Dorothy die d at 5:40 am August 2, 1965 in Hong Kong. We have just come back from the funeral. She is buried in the Chinese Christian Cemetery in Kowloon City at the top of a high hill, which overlooks the airport, Kowloon City and Diamond Hill. A little lower do wn on the same hill is Hei Ling's grave. All in the cemetery except I thin k two others, are Chinese, so we are happy to think of her there among th e Chinese Christians who are awaiting the Shout. I believe there were ove r 200 at the funeral, many of them Yeung Kong people. It was hard for the brothers who took part to keep from breaking down. More About Frances Dorothea Willis: Burial: 4 August 1965, Chinese Christian Cemetery in Kowloon, Hong Kong Name called: Dorothy More About Harold Fetherstonhaugh Collier: Burial: Chinese Christian Cemetery in Kowloon, Hong Kong More About Harold Collier and Frances Willis: Marriage: 25 March 1930, Hong Kong
